When I started my career in the industry, I expected it to be just a mobility service for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and large corporations. I now realise that there is so much more to it. Every time I talk about my profession with someone outside of the sector, I conclude that is it one of the most misperceived industries in Europe.
Due to this, it is my strong belief that the industry would be much more appealing to new talent and young professionals if we could raise more awareness about the broad scope of our industry, its opportunities and positive impact on society. Business Aviation represents and creates crucial socio-economic value in various ways, including direct and indirect job creation and connectivity across Europe, allowing travellers and businesses to access more regions across the continent.
Our industry is mainly composed of many smaller companies that can’t yet offer well-structured career development programs or traineeships that are well known to young professionals. It might, therefore, be beneficial to stimulate the development of such programs within our industry and establish long-term relationships with educational organizations to create awareness and attract talented new graduates eager to take the next step in their professional development.
Finally, the new generation, of which I consider myself part, is attributing a lot of importance to sustainability. Though the industry is committed to a sustainable future, it can still be addressed even more. I am convinced that integrating sustainability into daily activities and long-term strategy can help increase our exposure and reputation, while also positively contributing to financial performance.
