Business Aviation is an exciting industry. You work with people who have a real passion for private jets, logistics and bespoke luxury services, and work hard to offer their customers the most efficient and comfortable way to travel.
However, this is not the only way that many young graduates and job seekers think about the industry. Considering the learnings from EBAA’s Millennial Report, and hearing student’s reactions to the EBACE Millennial panel that I took part in, the main concern seems to be actual job opportunities and career progression within a ‘closed’ and ‘old-fashioned’ industry.
To attract more young professionals to the industry, companies and associations will have to change perceptions and raise awareness about the opportunities it can offer. Through better education about the new emerging trends and innovation within the industry, and the wide range of career avenues that are available around private travel, students and young professionals will discover what is possible within Business Aviation early in their career decision-making process.
We’re increasingly seeing that many young professionals also have their own vision of our industry’s future. The Millennial Report also raised the youth’s concern about sustainability and environmental issues. The creation and development of more jobs to tackle the industry’s carbon footprint will undoubtedly be attractive positions – as long as young people know about them.
