Through my role at Air Service Basel, I’ve both noticed and admired the opportunities for growth and improvement in the Business Aviation industry. As a millennial, I can echo the voice of my generation in wanting accessibility, flexibility and transparency. Though I’ve only been in the industry for just over a year, I have seen the benefits of Business Aviation first-hand as both a means of travel and employment.
However, these benefits lack transparency for those outside of the industry. We are now reaching a critical point where we’re experiencing a growing generation gap, stricter rules and regulations, and commercial threats. One of the best ways to improve the perception of the industry to users, professionals, and people completely outside of the industry is through better, more open external communication.
Though not without risks, digital communication is now allowing the industry to work together and with stakeholders to change the perception by showing the range of benefits to everyone. Perhaps by also showcasing the advantages of working in Business Aviation in schools and universities, we can raise awareness for even more young people. By teaching them that there are a vast number of roles and careers (not just as a pilot or mechanic) and offering more accessibility to courses, more young people can see a future career path that wasn’t an option before.
I truly believe that with the right messaging and consistency, we can really make a positive impact on the future of this industry.
