In my experience, I’ve found that though business aviation and business travel are important for international companies and local economies, public understanding of how our industry contributes solutions for more global issues is low.
Business aviation is of course important for companies, providing flexibility in terms of travel and time, but the industry is also a technological innovation platform delivering exciting breakthroughs, such as eVTOL and Sustainable Alternative Jet Fuels.
Aside from technological advancements, there is so much more that business aviation provides. Both planes and helicopters are used for medical reasons, such as to deliver organs for transplant or for medivac transport, as well as to bring humanitarian aid to those in need during natural disasters and other global crises.
As more young people join and grow within the industry, I believe the perception of business aviation will continue to evolve. Why? Because young people are more geared towards a ‘green world’ and will accelerate the sustainability movement.
As our generation of digital natives pushes for more software and data-based solutions for aviation, I firmly believe that we will be able to optimize planning systems to reduce the number of empty-leg flights (positioning flights carrying no passengers).
At the One Young World Summit, I look forward to learning how others see our industry and what they think we can work on to make the world a better place to live. It’s the ideal moment to discuss the future of our planet with young leaders from across all industries.
